HW Kaufman’s subsidiary, Atain Insurance Companies, has announced a partnership with Vikco Insurance Services to launch a comprehensive Difference in Condition (DIC) earthquake program that will cover seven states in the western United States.

“Atain’s partnership with Vikco signals an exciting new strategy whereby we can leverage Atain’s significant capital position to support skills-based programs that meet our needs,” said Chris Zoidis, (pictured left) President and CEO of Atain Insurance Companies. “Given Vikco’s expertise in DIC real estate, coupled with their approach to thoughtful underwriting, we are confident that this joint effort will be successful.”

Atain said this is the first time in the company’s history that it has worked with a company outside the HW Kaufman Group. It usually provides services to its sister companies. Zoidis said Atain expects this new venture to be the first of many as it aims to diversify the company’s portfolio beyond the Kaufman companies.

Meanwhile, Vikco president Brian Cindric (pictured right) is pleased with the new partnership and says it could further increase the company’s capacity.

“We appreciate the trust of the Atain team and look forward to bringing this highly rated capacity to our customers and their insureds,” said Cindric. “This is a great opportunity to begin a long-term and successful partnership with Atain.”

According to its website, Atain is a chartered and non-chartered property and casualty insurance company that specializes in serving niche programs and excess and surplus (E&S) markets.

Originally founded in 1843 as Frankford Mutual Insurance Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the company has more than 140 years of insurance experience and strong roots in the specialty insurance industry. Atain is licensed in 50 states and the company insures numerous lines of business, including professional liability, general liability and commercial multi-peril risks.
