Comedian and actor Andy Dick had his latest run-in with Southern California law enforcement early Friday, Jan. 13, when he was arrested by Riverside County sheriff’s deputies who responded to a report of an intoxicated person in Lake Elsinore.
Deputies determined that Dick was under the influence of alcohol, a news release said.
Dick, 67, who is listed as a resident of Hemet, was arrested at O’Hara’s Rock & Roll Tavern at 15788 Grand Avenue on suspicion of public intoxication and failure to update his address on the sex offender registry, both misdemeanors, according to the county jail log. He was arrested just before 1 a.m. and later posted $5,000 bail.
Dick was ordered to register as a sex offender when he was sentenced on Nov. 10 to 90 days in Los Angeles County jail for misdemeanor sexual battery after he groped an Uber driver. The sentence included 12 months probation, 52 Alcoholics Anonymous sessions, 52 sexual compulsion anonymous sessions and 12 mental health counseling sessions, according to Greg Risling, a spokesman for the District Attorney’s Office.
Risling said he did not know how much of the jail sentence Dick served.
Dick does not appear on California’s Megan’s Law database. It was unclear why Friday.
A representative of Dick could not be located for comment.
No one who was working at O’Hara’s when Dick was present could be reached Friday afternoon.
Dick has a history of behavior problems, both crude and illegal.
Dick was arrested in May 2022 on suspicion of felony sexual battery after Orange County sheriff’s deputies were called to the campground at O’Neill Regional Park on Trabuco Canyon Road. The District Attorney’s Office declined to file charges after the reported victim became uncooperative.
In 2011, Dick was jailed on a misdemeanor drunkenness charge in Temecula and released after he sobered up, according to Riverside County sheriff’s officials and jail records. He was arrested at the Marie Callender’s restaurant at 29363 Rancho California Road. Superior Court records do not indicate that any charges were ever filed.
Dick was arrested in Murrieta in 2008 on suspicion of illegal drug use and sexual battery after a person reported that he pulled down a teenager’s top, police said. He was convicted of misdemeanor sexual battery and was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet for one year, Superior Court records show.
Dick has a reputation for crude behavior. He was forcibly removed from the set of the show “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last year after he repeatedly touched guest Ivanka Trump without her permission.
And in 2021, Dick was cited in Columbus, Ohio, for urinating on the sidewalk. A comedy club owner in the city said the actor also made inappropriate comments while onstage, groped patrons, took women into the men’s room and urinated on the floor and on at least one person.
In 1999, Dick was arrested for possession of cocaine and marijuana after driving his car into a telephone pole in Hollywood. He pleaded guilty but the charges were dismissed after he enrolled in a diversion program.
Dick in the mid-1990s appeared on NBC’s NewsRadio and had a supporting role on Less than Perfect. He briefly had his own program, The Andy Dick Show, on MTV.
