Consilium, the global specialty reinsurance brokerage business of Aventum Group, has launched its new transportation division and appointed Thomas Noakes as senior partner.
From June, Noakes will work at Consilium after serving his notice period at Price Forbes & Partners, where he was an associate director.
He is active in the industry of understanding the challenges faced by shipping companies and cargo owners and brings 13 years of experience in placing specialist international shipping risks such as hull and machinery, protection and compensation, charterers’ liability and Shipping with cargo insurance.
Consilium’s new shipping division is expected to provide full access to A-rated Lloyd’s and London market leaders, as well as specialist shipping markets in Asia, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East.
Consilium said the division is “inherently extremely flexible” to offer differentiated solutions tailored to the needs of individual customers and the specifics of the regions in which they operate.
The reinsurance brokerage firm said it would act “quickly” to develop and deploy solutions to provide needed clarity during times of heightened uncertainty, such as heightened geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions.
Consilium is also offering solutions to address the aftermath of the Baltimore Bridge collapse, which it said is expected to be the “costliest marine accident” in modern history for reinsurers.
Commenting on the launch of the division and Noakes’ appointment, Paul Richards, co-CEO and managing partner of Consilium, said expanding the firm’s expertise in the shipping market was a “natural step” to become the “most inspiring independent specialist broker” globally to become.
“Thomas will play a key role in growing our department thanks to his expertise, drive and strong commitment to customer service,” Richards said in a statement.
He added that the consolidation had eroded remaining options for customers while service had suffered, noting that “these are incredibly exciting times” as the company delivers results for shipping industry customers.
