“Caring is always in style!”

Author Debbie L. Hepner has a master’s degree in education and taught in the Davis School District in Utah for 30 years. Now retired from teaching, she writes children’s stories, and one of her first works is “Savanah Banana Caring for Others” (Ingram; 2021).

Some of her stories are inspired by true-life experiences with her grandchildren and former students.

“Savanah Banana Caring for Others” tells a story of a kind little girl Savanah visiting a children’s hospital with her Bananamobile. But she did not go there as a patient. Instead, her goal is to bring happiness and comfort to the children at the hospital.

Savanah is enthusiastic about inviting more and more children to ride with her on her cute Bananamobile as they go through the rooms of the hospital. And eventually, the singing and laughter fill the halls of the hospital. The story is so pure that it’s impossible for the readers to not feel attached to Savanah because of how she shows generosity toward other children.

This book received the Independent Press Award for Favorite Picture Book and the Mom’s Choice Award in 2022.

The author made the readers realize that even through small acts of kindness, their goodness will forever be remembered by the people they helped.
