Nobody does a fashion era quite like Kim Kardashian. Over the years, the reality star and beauty mogul has experimented with many different looks—obsessing over one particular designer or aesthetic for a prolonged period of time. She goes through phases of almost exclusively wearing one brand only: She’s been a Balmain muse, an archival Jean Paul Gaultier fanatic, and most recently, a Balenciaga devotee. But her brand new fashion mantra for 2023? It’s all about rocking the vintage tee.
Over the past few months, Kardashian has been spotted out and about sporting rare pieces of merch. Just last night in L.A., Kardashian attended daughter North West’s basketball game wearing an ab-bearing “Social Distortion” tee. Who would have guessed she’s a fan of the 1970s American punk-rock band? For more of a Kim touch, she paired it with a jean-sweatpant hybrid (yes, really!) and huge shield sunglasses.

This latest look serves as a continuation of her love of merch. Back in December, Kardashian was in Miami for Art Basel and wore a vintage blue Bjork tee with leather pants. She took that same styling approach last month when she donned a shirt from Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s 2000 “Up in Smoke” tour. T-shirts from the latter tour are going for up to $1,200 on Grailed. Could the hard-to-get vintage tee be replacing Kardashian’s obsession with one-of-a-kind archival designer pieces? It’s certainly a funny sight to envision: Kardashian putting in her bids on eBay to score an obscure band tee from the ’90s.
