SCOR has announced new leadership positions: Jeffrey Walpole (pictured above, left) succeeds Olivier Gay (pictured above, right) as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Underwriting Officer of SCOR Canada.
Walpole will report to Nicolas Berg, Head of P&C North America at SCOR, and will oversee all aspects of Canadian operations to ensure customer service.
Gay has since been named SCOR’s head of reporting.
Walpole’s career includes positions as Vice President at SCOR since August 2021, Associate Vice President at TransRe, Vice President at Guy Carpenter and Assistant Manager at Aon Benfield. He also served as an Associate Investment Advisor at ScotiaMcLeod.
Walpole holds a fellowship in risk management from the Insurance Institute of Canada and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Western University.
Gay’s tenure at SCOR has spanned 14 years, including serving as Interim CFO for the Americas Region and Head of Reporting (Group). Previously, he was President & CEO and Chief Underwriting Officer at SCOR Canada, Deputy CFO Asia Pacific and Head of Financial Analysis and Capital Management.
Gay has also held positions at EY and served on the boards of the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction, the Reinsurance Research Council and Global Ag Risk Solutions. He holds degrees from Audencia and Cardiff University.
“Following the successes and tremendous work Olivier has done over the last four years as CEO of SCOR Canada, this appointment underscores SCOR’s commitment to the Canadian insurance market. “I am confident that under Jeffrey’s leadership, SCOR will continue to thrive as a major player in Canada,” said Berg.
In other recent appointment news, SCOR has announced the appointment of Olga Chestiperova as lead underwriter in the Alternative Solutions Reinsurance team. Her role comes into effect on June 5th.
“We are very pleased to announce that Olga Chestiperova joined the SCOR Alternative Solutions Reinsurance team as a Senior Underwriter in our Paris office on June 5th. “Olga is focused on structured reinsurance business and will further strengthen our team – which has grown in recent months and is now complete with the arrival of Olga,” said Fanny Rosset, Head of Alternative Solutions Reinsurance at SCOR.
