Terry Cunningham was a member of one of the most dominant off-road racing in team ever- Team Husqvarna. He worked at Husky in Ohio, witnessed a portion of Dick Burleson’s 8-year reign as the National Enduro Champion and set the enduro world aflame in 1982. TC mainly raced a Husky Automatic and was brutally efficient in the just about any terrain he encountered. Terry won titles in ’82, ’84, ’85 and 1986. This shot is from the 1984 Cherokee National Enduro.

Destry Abbott at work in his playground. He has won 10 major championships, 7 ISDE Gold Medals and was a factory Kawasaki rider for 14 years winning five AMA National Hare & Hound Championships. Great pic by Cindy Lowerre.

Following the 1991 USGP at Glen Helen we were fortunate enough to go testing some of the European machines that made the trek to the states to compete in event on the actual GP circuit. I remember that Clarke Jones from Noleen Racing built this machine, but I can’t recall the rider. Still, I was a big KX500 fan and this sucker hummed. It had great suspension, a perfectly jetted engine with broad and heavily muscled power band.
