Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun will face questions from the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations on Tuesday about quality control concerns and whistleblower allegations.

Boeing’s best-selling 737 Max aircraft has sparked controversy since two deadly crashes in 2018 and 2019. The company’s attention increased again after a door plug flew out of one of its nearly new 737 Max planes during a crash Alaska Airlines Flight in January.

After the incident, the company’s whistleblower, Sam Salehpour, came forward and alleged that the aerospace company placed excessive stress on the planes’ joints, which shortened the lifespan of some planes. Boeing dismissed the claims as “inaccurate.”

The subcommittee on Tuesday released new whistleblower claims from Boeing quality assurance investigator Sam Mohawk, who alleges the company lost track of parts that were damaged or out of specification. Mohawk claims the lost parts were likely installed on planes at Boeing’s Washington factory, where the 737 Max models are made.

The company announced in March that Calhoun would step down as CEO before the end of the year.
