Global reinsurance broker Gallagher Re has announced the promotion of April Engelman (pictured) from executive vice president and operations director for North America to chief operating officer of its North America region.
Brian Flasinski, CEO of Gallagher Re North America, said he was excited about Engelman’s new role.
“We are pleased to welcome April to the North American leadership team,” he said. “April brings a wealth of operational knowledge, deep expertise and proven leadership skills – invaluable assets to support the company as we embark on the next chapter of our growth story. We are also pleased to have filled this position with our existing talent.”
Who is April Engelman?
Prior to joining Gallagher Re in 2021, Engelman began her career as an account analyst at Willis Re. After three years, she was promoted to Contract Analyst and moved up the ranks to Business Process Manager before becoming Senior Vice President and Regional Operations Manager – Midwest.
Following the acquisition of Willis Re by Gallagher Re, Engelman joined the company as Executive Vice President and North America Operations Director, where she was instrumental in the smooth transition between the companies.
Engelman expressed her feelings about her new role.
“It is an honor to continue serving the North America region in this new role and I look forward to working with the leadership team. We share a passion for the business and a commitment to operational excellence, and I look forward to expanding our partnership as we continue to drive the business forward,” she said.
Engelman will replace Mark Hansen in this position as he was recently promoted to Chief Operating Officer of Gallagher Re. Effective immediately upon her promotion, Engelman will report to Flasinski and will be based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
