The new boss will assume his role on June 24th

International specialty insurer Hiscox has appointed Mary Boyd as managing director of Hiscox USA. Boyd succeeds Kevin Kerridge, who is leaving at the end of September, and will take up the role on June 24. From then on, Kerridge will serve in an advisory role before leaving to explore other opportunities.
Boyd joins from home and auto insurance provider Plymouth Rock Assurance, where she led the independent agency business as CEO beginning in 2018. She brings more than 30 years of experience to Hiscox and has led various companies through significant transformations. Boyd’s career began in actuarial roles and later led to leadership roles at The Hartford, ACE, Explorer Insurance and Chubb.
Regarding her upcoming responsibilities, Boyd said, “I am excited to join Hiscox and lead this talented team to its next streak of success.” Aki has communicated a clear strategic vision to meet the insurance needs of small business owners across the United States, reinforced by a consistent commitment to our partners and continuous investment in technology capabilities.
“I am excited by the opportunity to work with our team to drive innovation and profitable growth in this market.”
She was referring to Aki Hussain, group chief executive of Hiscox, who noted: “Mary’s knowledge and expertise in the insurance industry is exceptional and I am delighted to welcome her to the Hiscox business.” Her extensive experience in building and running U.S. insurance companies and their deep understanding of the U.S. consumer market will be critical to scaling our U.S. business as we capitalize on the opportunity ahead.”
Meanwhile, Boyd’s predecessor is saying goodbye to Hiscox after almost three decades with the company.
“Kevin was key to starting our digital journey 25 years ago and has been instrumental in making Hiscox’s digital offering the powerhouse it is today,” Hussain explained. “We are eternally grateful for the extensive expertise and drive that Kevin has brought to our company over his time here, and we wish him all the best in his next steps.”
