Wilton Reinsurance Bermuda (Wilton Re) has donated $5,000 to the Menuhin Foundation, a longstanding organization dedicated to improving music education in Bermuda.

The foundation has been active since 1976 and offers numerous programs aimed at giving children, regardless of their socioeconomic background, the opportunity to learn string instruments.

According to a Wilton Re spokesperson, the foundation ensures that all children “have access to the unique social, emotional and intellectual benefits of learning a stringed instrument and develop a lifelong appreciation for music.”

Meanwhile, the organization’s mission focuses on “providing opportunities for learning, achievement and access to tools, regardless of background or resources.”

Sylvia Oliveira, CEO of Wilton Re Bermuda and violinist with the Bermuda Philharmonic, commented on the importance of the foundation’s work.

“The Menuhin Foundation’s commitment to our school children deserves praise and support,” she said in a report.

Laura Davis, Chair of the Menuhin Foundation, also thanked Wilton Re for its continued support.

“Wilton Re appreciates the continued recognition and value of the Menuhin programs and the need for ongoing support,” she said, acknowledging the impact of their contributions.

Brendan Kemp, CFO of Wilton Re, also expressed his support, noting the challenges smaller charities face in raising the necessary funding.

“Wilton Re Bermuda, our employees and I greatly appreciate the significant charitable work we do to support the Bermuda community and are particularly aware of the challenges faced by smaller charities in operating at a time when they have fewer resources to be able to secure financing,” he said.

In March, the reinsurer was also named Devonshire’s new main sponsor
The Colts’ youth program in a partnership that will span the next four years.

Founded in 2005, Wilton Re Bermuda is an A-rated life and pension reinsurer.
