MNK Re, a re/insurance broker specializing in global risks, has appointed Giles Ham (pictured above) as deputy director of sureties as the firm looks to strengthen its international presence in the surety market, particularly in insuring sophisticated and difficult-to-place risks globally .

With more than three decades of experience in the surety industry, Ham has extensive experience providing surety solutions for large civil infrastructure projects, including the Channel Tunnel Rail Link and the Ted Williams Tunnel in Boston, Massachusetts.

His expertise extends to working with a wide range of international brokers, enabling him to significantly expand MNK Re’s client base, particularly overseas clients seeking to utilize the capabilities of specialists in London.

Manoj Kumar, CEO of MNK Re Group, emphasized the importance of Ham’s appointment as the company aims for further expansion.

“Giles brings a wealth of experience and knowledge with him, so we are pleased to welcome him to MNK Re. His appointment is an important step as we continue our rapid international expansion and expand our business portfolio in the surety market. He has a track record of serving his clients and I have no doubt that MNK Re will benefit enormously from his market understanding and expertise,” he said.

Ham expressed his enthusiasm for his new role and also noted the current state of the surety market and what his appointment means for MNK Re.

“I look forward to leveraging my network and market knowledge to help customers find the solutions they need. Governments and companies around the world are trying to develop increasingly complex infrastructure projects in response to problems like climate change. I look forward to working with Manoj and the team to help them access tailored insurance benefits that can provide the protection employers demand,” he said.
