Global managing general underwriter (MGU) Victor has announced the appointment of Tim McDougald (pictured above) as president of Victor’s US specialty insurance division, effective immediately.

During his 34 years at Marsh, McDougald has held several key leadership positions, most recently as head of Marsh’s New England operations for the past eight years. His previous roles included leading the New York Metro Risk Management team at Marsh.

McDougald’s insurance industry background and leadership skills will drive growth, innovation and talent development at Victor US, the company said in a news release.

In his new role, McDougald will lead the division from Boston, Massachusetts and report directly to Charles Williamson, CEO of Victor.

Commenting on the new appointment, Charles Williamson praised McDougald as the best professional to take on this important role.

“As we continue to expand our presence in the U.S. market, Tim McDougald’s proven leadership skills and strong carrier relationships make him the ideal candidate to lead our U.S. specialty insurance business,” said Williamson. “His expertise and experience will help deliver strong results for our carrier partners as we continue to provide innovative insurance solutions to our customers.”

McDougald was also excited about his new role and emphasized the company’s commitment to market leadership and customer service.

“Victor’s commitment to innovation and strong customer focus are unparalleled in the market. “I look forward to working with Victor’s talented team to deliver exceptional insurance solutions for brokers and their clients and drive success in the marketplace,” said McDougald.

Victor manages over $3.7 billion in premiums worldwide and maintains a network of more than 20,000 active insurance agents and brokers. The company has an international presence with offices in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and Australia.

Back in December, Williamson spoke to Insurance Business about how his varied career prepared him for his role at MGA and how he plans to bring new opportunities to the company.
